Reception held for scholarship award recipients at USF Sarasota-Manatee
SARASOTA, FL (May 7, 2009) - Each year, the Rawley Silver Award for Excellence
assists graduate students at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee
who are enrolled in service-related programs such as social work and education
who show exceptional promise based on academic achievement or prior life
experience.
On April 19, the Silvers held a reception at their home to honor this year?s
scholarship awardees. The student recipients receive an annual award as long as
they maintain a 3.5 grade point average and are enrolled at least half time.
Recipients of the award for 2009 are Danielle Callaway, Shameka Hollimon,
Mikaela Halsey, Ismely Lorente and Emily Richelieu.
Rawley Silver, Ed.D., ATR-BC, HLM is a specialist in the area of art therapy.
Her assessments use stimulus drawings to elicit responses that provide access to
emotions and attitudes towards self and others, as well as assess three concepts
said to be fundamental in reading and mathematics. Her books help teachers and
mental health professionals identify students at risk for violent behavior or
masked depression.
