Local leader to receive University of South Florida alumni service award
SARASOTA, FL (July 1,
2009) – Charles Baumann, a shareholder at Sarasota certified public accounting firm Kerkering, Barberio & Co.,
P.A., will be presented with the Donald A. Gifford Alumni Service award by the University of South Florida
Alumni Association during USF’s Homecoming weekend, November 20 and 21.
The Donald A. Gifford Alumni Service award recognizes a USF graduate who has provided countless hours of
service to the University of South Florida.
Baumann, who served eight years as vice president of the USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus Board, graduated from USF
in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He has been employed by Kerkering, Barberio & Co., P.A. since
1981.
“As a member of the USF Sarasota-Manatee Board of Trustees and the USF Foundation Board of Trustees, Baumann
has been a key leader and champion of the University of South Florida,” said Arthur Guilford, Regional
Chancellor of USF Sarasota-Manatee. “His contributions to USF and his leadership in community service have had
a profound effect on the Sarasota-Manatee region.”
Baumann chaired the first Brunch on the Bay celebration for USF Sarasota-Manatee in 1994 and was instrumental
in creating the recent Mote Marine-USF Marine Science partnership.
