Campus Security Alert - 032511

The Campus Police are investigating two recent residence hall burglaries that occurred overnight on the New College campus. One occurred at the Pei Residence Hall West, the other occurred at the Dort Residence Hall. One incident occurred during the early evening hours of the 24th, the other occurred sometime between the late evening hours of the 24th into early morning hours of the 25th. Laptops and small items such as phones and jewelry were taken. In both cases, the rooms in question had been left unlocked, or had the door propped open.

The campus police were already investigating a previous theft of a laptop from an unsecured common area in the Dort Residence Hall that occurred on the 23rd sometime between 3:00 AM to 10:20 AM.

If anyone observed anything suspicious on campus during those times, or has any information that may be of assistance in these cases, please contact the campus police at (941) 487-4210. Please report any suspicious persons or activity that you may observe, and take steps to protect your valuable possessions by securing them properly. Please lock your rooms, including external doors to common areas.
