USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus Board
The USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus Board was appointed on September 21, 2001, by the USF Board of Trustees. The five-member
campus board met for the first time on October 24, 2001.
Margaret L. Callihan is a Sarasota County resident and is Chairman, President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Southwest Florida. She heads up the banking operations for SunTrust in the region from Manatee through Collier counties. She joined the company's Management Training Program in 1978 in the Nashville Tennessee Region and has held a number of leadership positions within SunTrust over the past 31 years. She served as the Retail Line of Business Manager for Tennessee and Alabama and as the Chattanooga Region Chairman, President and CEO before assuming her current position in Southwest Florida in January, 2005.
Margaret grew up in Galveston, Texas, and earned both her BA and MBA degrees from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at LSU. She has instructed at numerous banking schools throughout the country and is a graduate of Leadership Nashville, Leadership Music, the L2 program of Leadership Sarasota and is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Florida. She has received the Athena Award, was named as a "Woman of Distinction" and was recognized with the "She Knows Where She's Going" Award from Girls Inc.
She is very involved in the community and serves on several boards including the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce; the Economic Development Corporation (EDC); and the Community Foundation. She is also on the board of the Sarasota Mentoring Initiative and is a member of the International Women's Forum (IWF).

Elizabeth G. Lindsay is a Sarasota county resident. A partner in L3 Farms, a commercial citrus and vegetable operation, in Manatee County. Ms. Lindsay serves on the Board of Advisors of the University of South Florida College of Business Administration, and the USF Foundation Board of Directors, the Florida House Board of Directors and the House Renovation & Construction Committee. A Certified Building Contractor since 1975. The Florida Board of Regents was the governing body for the State University System of Florida, between1965 to 2001 and Ms Lindsay was appointed to the Florida Board of Regents in 1991 and she also served as the chair.
Ms. Lindsay earned her Master's of Business Administration from the University of South Florida. Ms. Lindsay has been a member of the American Society for Interior Designers (ASID) since 1982 and also holds an honorary Doctor of Business Administration from the University of South Florida. Among her many philanthropic achievements.
Ms. Lindsay served as the board president of the Asolo Repertory Theatre from 1991-93 and chair of the Capital Campaign Committee and the Construction Committee, which raised the funds to build the Asolo Center for the Performing Arts. Other notable current civic affiliations include Asolo Performing Arts Center, Florida Women's Network, and Nature Conservancy.

Byron E. Shinn is president and managing partner of Shinn & Company LLC, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants. Mr. Shinn formed the Bradenton-based company in 1993 to provide professional services in the areas of auditing, accounting, taxation and business consulting. He is a member of both the American Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Association of Certified Public Accountants. He is a past board chairman of the Florida State Board of Accountancy and currently serves as a member of the organization's Probable Cause Panel.
A Manatee County native, Mr. Shinn earned his BA from the University of South Florida and was the recipient of the President's Award for Outstanding Alumni. He is a past board member of USF Sarasota-Manatee's Community Leadership Council served on the school's Accountancy Advisory Board, and also is a USF Trustee on the University Board of Trustees.
Mr. Shinn is very active in his community and has been involved with many civic organizations including the Manatee Chamber of Commerce (past president and former board member,) the Kiwanis Club of Bradenton (past president and former board member,) and the United Way of Manatee County. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Child Protection Center.

Richard Smith is a Manatee County resident and the managing partner of the Sarasota Office of Christopher, Smith, Leonard, Bristow & Stanell, P.A. He is involved in tax and estate planning, tax compliance and benefit consulting.
A graduate of USF, he was named a Distinguished Alumni by the university in 2001. He is a past Chairman for the Brunch on the Bay Committee for USF Sarasota-Manatee and is the chair of the USF Sarasota-Manatee Community Leadership Council, on which he has served for thirteen years.
Mr. Smith has been involved with many community organizations, including the Argus Foundation, the State Program Committee of the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch, the Leadership Sarasota Program Committee for the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce Goodwill Industries, the YMCA, the South West Florida Planned Giving Council, and Leadership Sarasota. Mr. Smith currently serves as a Trustee of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants Education Foundation and is a member and a past President of the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council as well as a member of the Manatee County Estate Planning Council.

Bob Turner, has been with the Bradenton Herald since 1979, and is the President & Publisher of the McClatchy owned daily newspaper and media company. Turner resides in Manatee County and is currently the Chairman of the Manatee County Economic Development Council, a member of the board of the Boy's and Girl's Clubs of Manatee County and a past President of the Boy's and Girl's Club Foundation. He has been involved in many community organizations over the years, including as past chairman and board member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce; past president and board member of the South Manatee Rotary Club; past chairman and board member of the USF Sarasota/Manatee Community Leadership Council; and board member of the Manatee Education Foundation. Bob has served on the United Way of Manatee County campaign cabinet and is a 1983 graduate of Leadership Manatee. Mr. Turner received his bachelor's of science degree from the University of South Florida and was awarded the President's Distinguished Citizen Award from USF President, Judy Genshaft in 1985.
