ESOL Field Experiences
One of the requirements for the ESOL endorsement is the ESOL Field Experience. USF Sarasota-Manatee graduates must satisfactorily complete and document a minimum of 60 hours over multiple weeks planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction for one or more ELL pupils with supervision by a teacher with an ESOL-Endorsed Credential. To document the completion of the minimum performance standards required in this field experience, the students use the Field Experience Evaluation Form (in the download packet).
On the Sarasota-Manatee Campus, field experience begins in ESOL 1 and continues through ESOL 2, practica, and the final internship. If teacher candidates find they are working with ESOL students under the supervision of a teacher without ESOL Endorsement, contact Dr. Burns to schedule two observations to validate your ESOL Field Experience in that setting.
The completed Field Experience Evaluation Form must be submitted as part of the ESOL Binder. The ESOL Binder must be signed off on before graduation is confirmed. You will be notified of Binder approval dates during your final internship semester.
