Dr. Lora Kosten is Faculty Coordinator for USF
Sarasota-Manatee at North Port and also teaches courses in
elementary education methods and foundations of education. She is retired from the Central Falls,
Rhode Island School District where she worked as both a teacher
and a principal.
Dr. Kosten received her Ph.D. in Humanities from Salve Regina
University and served on the adjunct faculty at Rhode Island
College for almost ten years. Her C.A.G.S. field project for
curriculum and instruction supported professional development as
a means to improve attitudes and practices of teachers regarding
the N.C.T.M. Standards, and her dissertation research addressed
parental involvement in education through Family Science and
Technology Workshops. She has a strong interest in research to
improve academic achievement of children in literacy through the
integration of the arts. She is honored to be on the faculty at
USF.
