About our Academic Programs

Programs in the College of Education can be broadly divided into two types:  those that lead to a license to be a teacher or principal in the public schools of Florida and those that do not.  The non-licensure programs are for students who are either already licensed or do not wish to be.  The state licensing process is referred to as "certification."

Programs leading to Certification

Elementary Education (Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science)

Educational Leadership (Master of Education K-12 concentration)

 Post-Master's Program Educational Leadership-for those who already have a Master's in something other than Ed Leadership)

Reading K-12 (Master of Arts)

Teaching Kindergarten through 6th Grade (Master of Arts in Teaching)

Teaching Exceptional Students (Master of Arts in ESE)-Bay-to-Bay Consortium

Programs not leading to Certification

M.A. Elementary Education K-6: Curriculum Emphasis (Master of Arts)

M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, Curriculum Leadership Concentration (M.Ed. in Educational Leadership)

M.Ed. in Educational Leadership, Non-Public/Charter School Leadership Concentration (M.Ed. in Educational Leadership)

Master of Arts in English Education

 

In some cases, instead of a degree some programs lead to a "Certificate."  This certificate should not be confused with certification (which leads to a license from the state to be an educator in the public schools).  Confusing?  Just contact an advisor for clarification.
