Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Valerie Lipscomb is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee. Dr. Lipscomb teaches British and American literature. Her current book project, Act Your Age, examines the performance of age in modern drama. Her co-edited collection of essays, Staging Age: The Performance of Age in Theatre, Dance, and Film, was published in 2010 by Palgrave Macmillan. (more...) Her articles have appeared in such journals as Shaw: The Annual of Bernard Shaw Studies, The Journal of Aging and Identity, and the National Women’s Studies Association Journal. Dr. Lipscomb regularly presents papers at conferences of organizations such as the Modern Language Association and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. She earned a Ph.D. from U.S.F. with concentrations in modern literature and teaching composition. She also holds a master’s degree in humanities and a bachelor’s in English. Prior to pursuing an academic career, Prof. Lipscomb was a professional writer and editor.(hide...)
