Dr. Cavedo joined the USF Sarasota-Manatee faculty as a full-time visiting professor in Fall 2010. He teaches American and British Literature courses and serves as director of the Writing Resource Center. His areas of specialization are 19th and 20th Century American and British literature and film studies—especially horror and science fiction/cinema. (more...)

Dr. Cavedo has taught literature, film, composition, and online courses at the following schools in the Tampa Bay area: USF Sarasota-Manatee and Tampa; Eckerd College Sarasota and St. Petersburg in the Program for Experienced Learners; St. Petersburg College; and Hillsborough Community College-Brandon. Prior to these teaching experiences, Dr. Cavedo taught at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. The nature of teaching in various learning environments has, Dr. Cavedo trusts, made him a well-rounded and adaptable professor.

Dr. Cavedo earned his Ph.D. in Literature from USF in Tampa. He also holds degrees in Literature (M.A.) from Virginia Commonwealth University and English (B.A.) from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Dr. Cavedo has had former careers as a communications specialist for an international corporation, senior editor in a publishing company, proofreader for a metropolitan newspaper, and high school English teacher.
