Prerequisites
All students must complete one course in each of the following cognate areas:
Biology 3 credit hours
BSC XXXX An approved Biology course
Economics 3 credit hours
ECO XXXX An approved Economics course
Political Science 3 credit hours
POS XXXX An approved Political Science course
POS 1112 American State and Local Government
POS 2182 Florida Politics and Government
Psychology 3 credit hours
PSY XXXX An approved Psychology course
Sociology 3 credit hours
SYG XXXX An approved Sociology course
Cross-Cultural Course 3 credit hours
An approved Cross-Cultural Course
And any course accepted by USF as an ALAMEA.
Bachelor of Social Work Graduation Requirement
This degree requires either 2 years same foreign language in high school or 2 semesters same college-level foreign language.
Course of Study
A student must complete both
SOW 3210 and
SOW 3303 prior to
admission to the BSW Program and must have a minimum grade of "B" or
better. B- is not acceptable.
In addition to the Prerequisites all undergraduate social work
majors must complete the following courses, maintaining a 2.75
average in social work courses.

SOW 4341 Multi-Methods of Social Work Practice I
SOW 4522 Multi-Cultural America
SOW 3102 Human Behavior in the Social Environment II
SOW 4343 Multi-Methods of Social Work Practice II
SOW 3401 Research and Statistics for Social Work
SOW 4233 Social Welfare Policy and Programs
SOW 4510L Field Placement
SOW 4510 Integrative Seminar
Total: 44 hours
Field placement occurs in the final semester of study and includes
completion of an internship of 32 hours per week in a social service
agency for a total of 480 hours.
