Certificate in Business & Technical Writing

The Certificate in Business and Technical Writing is open to students of diverse backgrounds who wish to pursue careers as professional writers and editors serving clients and employers in industry, business, government, and the professions or to use these writing/editing skills to supplement their training and enhance their employability in other professional fields. Students can pursue a certificate in Business and Technical Writing while pursuing another degree or as a non-degree seeking student. Students wishing to apply for the BTW Certificate should contact their academic advisor and the appropriate faculty in the USFSM Department of English. Admission will require an interview by phone or in person, and the submission of a writing sample on a topic assigned by faculty.

Certificate Requirements:
Those seeking a certificate would need to pass any five of these courses with a minimum 3.0 grade point average:

ENC 4946      Business & Technical Writing - Internship

Courses prepare the student for graduate school, and provide practical knowledge, which can lead to career opportunities in a variety of related occupational areas, such as: advertising copy writer, editor, journalist, lawyer, press secretary, public relations director, reporter, speech writer, teacher or professor, technical writer, writer or author.
